6th Season of India Runway week starts amidst much glitz and glamour

The much awaited fashion extravaganza India Runway Week in association with Big Boy Toyz, Season 6 Summer Edition commenced at Thyagraj Stadium, with Young startup designers.  The opening show was named as “Fashion Startups of India”, this has happened for the first time when a fashion trade event of this level had eight young designer kicking off the ready-to-wear collections for Summer’16 season. The Opening show was fully financed by IFFD and it presented the collection of eight designers out of thirty young designers of the previous seasons of India Runway Week who participated under “Newgen” category. The names of these young designers are Megha & Jigar, Vishala Shree,  Ankita & Akshita,  Vanica Chhabra, Rahul Kapoor,  Bani Pasricha,  Fahd Khatri and Sanya Garg.  RJ Rocky, RJ Henna & RJ Ashish from Red FM also walked the ramp for Fashion Startups in the opening show.

 

The Opening show was followed by Snishh by Snidhi and Ishna, Puneet Gupta, Yosshita & Neha, Gauri Couture, Hannah Khianghte, Bani Khurana, Sailesh Singhania, Prachi and Saloni, Sudhanshi Garg, Rohini Gugnani, Pratibha Lalwani last but not least Varija Bajaj.

 

While sisters Snidhi & Ishana showcased their label SNISHH which is all about dynamic cuts, geometric prints and is a brand meant for those who express themselves through fashion. Puneet Gupta presented an enchanting palette of the very Indian and classic designs and patterns for bride and groom, which was exclusive and classy. Designer Hannah Khianghte showcased classic silhouettes and traditional formal wear that women in Mizoram wear with their Puan (traditional skirt of the Mizos).

 

 Natasa Stankovic dazzled on the ramp as a showstopper for Gauri Couture by Nikheil & Rivendra at India Runway week spring/summer 2016. Looking absloutely resplendent and gorgeous in the collection named “ITRR” inspired from vintage garden.

 

Designer Rohini Gugnani showcased her ethnic wear outfits and Rapper Ish Kaur walked the ramp for her. Ish Kaur was wearing a 15 kg legnga and breaking the norms that a rapper cannot wear ethnic while performing.

 

Chesi Anne Basil, star for the evening, a 16 year old cancer patient whose only wish was to be a model and walk the ramp. Her motto is to celebrate life and be a role model for so many others who are fighting this deadly disease. VARIJA DESIGN STUDIO is ecstatic to make her wish come true with the help of India Runway Week and Make-A-Wish-Foundation. Once again PAGDI is an ode to women like Chesi who have taken a huge responsibility to make this world a better place. PAGDI at India Runway Week by designer Varija Bajaj however is an ode to womanhood. Today, it is women who are actually responsible for laying a strong foundation not only for their family but society as a whole. The show is dedicated to these Women who are today the drivers of growth and future.

 

The second day of the India Runway week Season 6 celebrated the beauty of different styles women tend to explore sartorially.  Label d&n by designer Dheeru Sagar and Nitika Kanodia made that silhouettes as a base of their inspiration and created a whole new range of collection keeping modern Indian woman in mind. The collection is a beautiful amalgamation of Indian heritage embroidery creatively infused with Parisian silhouettes.

 

“First Edit” by Sonya Shukla specializes in garments that help you to make a sweeping social entrance.  The signature aesthetic of the brand is a triumphant fusion of western silhouettes replete with traditional workmanship and modern motifs splayed across conventional Indian garments.

 

The collection comprise of contemporary ethnic as well as fusion ensembles. The label Yashika Tejwani is for the woman who is modern, independent, yet deeply rooted in tradition. The label believes in timeless elegance and is craft based, adorning the rich cultural heritage of different regions which do not follow a fashion trend in particular. Ethos of the label lies in intricate embroidery detailing.

 

Banka Silk by designer Rashmi Shrivastav and Devleena Mazumdar, their collections was inspired and focused into taking the authentic essence of India as an inspiration and thus construct it into such a form that it holds the soul of our base and yet proves to be modern and articulate that suits the needs and demands of the current fashion trend.

 

Actress Mandira Bedi and Transgender Activist Laxmi Naryan Tripathi walked the ramp for Delhi-based Jewellery designer Akassh K Aggarwal. Actress Mandira Bedi is the show stopper for Akassh K Aggarwal. At the show he has launched new Spring/Summer Collection "The Coeur Collectives". Coeur is a recreation of French Word for core/heart.With his 'Coeur Collection,' Aggarwal has showcased assortment of Indian era of grandeur, splendor and preciousness of jewellery vanity. The collection is a versatility to be worn on ethnic as well with Indowestern. The collection resonates with the symbolism by using fine techniques in filigree motif, stamped light weight metal sheet work, embossed 3D and vibrant metallic colors of gold and silver.Talking to Akassh K Aggarwal about the collection, he says, "The collections comes with a social message of Gender Equality & Sensitization refers to the modification of behavior by raising awareness of gender equality concerns , In a male dominating society such as India, the other two kinds{ Female & LGBT} gender are facing their own SOCIAL & PERSONAL issue. I want to bring the Gender Equality message through my collection. " 

 

Suman Kundu (Wrestler), Sandeep Narwal (Kabaddi Player), Sunil Dabas (National Female Kabaddi Coach ) walked the ramp for ‘DAKSH’ an Indian fashion label based at Rohtak- Haryana.

 

Shriya Saran Walks the ramp for designer Architha Narayanam’s brand Archi, she looks stunning in her outfit.

 

 

While Day 1 of India Runway Week, Season 6 started off with a bang, day 3 hasn’t slowed down one bit. Day 3 started with the 5 designer show Anjana Singh, Priyanka Munot, Shafali Grover, Yugansatya, Scarlet by Shruti Jamaal.

 

First show started with the collection of designer Anjana Singh. Anjana Singh in her collection, The Pastels rediscovered the intricate embroideries of chamba rumal and used the fabric in sophisticated Indo-western silhouettes. The collection was crafted out of organza, georgette, habutai along with handloom silk. The color palette ranged from pastel mist with subtle use of mini crystals. Kaleido’s Spring/Summer by Priyanak Munot  is inspired from “India through a Kaleidoscope.” The collection focused on the mixing couture and ethnic traditional with a sense of modernity, which made the collection colourful, edgy and playful. It had an array of modern ghagra choli, kediyu dhoti, sharara crop top, and gowns. The designer used fabrics like organza, silk chiffon, georgette and Gazi silk. Yugansatya “The Sport of Royalty” by designer Yugansatya depicts a story of most glamorous and royal game. These hand painted pieces will surely makes you feel like royal knowing that each piece is unique and hours of concrete efforts go into every single piece of garment and it merges past into present. 

 

Followed by the Collections of Designers Pralii Design House by Rupali, Niharika Kamani, Megha Jain Madaan, Mugdha Art Studio, Seema Mehta, Rajdeep Ranawat, Agnimitra paul. Actress & Model Rushali Rai walked the ramp for Designer Rupali Lakra at India Runway Week 2016. Rushalo looked undoubtedly stunning and gorgeous at the ramp in Rupali Lakra’s Golden pleated Gown with a tied and dyed jacket overlay, which was the part of her BOHO-ANTI-BOHO Collection. The adorable product line presented

 

Actress Aditi Gowitrikar walked the ramp for Designer Megha Jain . Aditi was looking stunning in Orange tulle dress. The collection she showcased is a tribute to her father. Kolkatta based Designer Niharika Kamani’s collection Enchantress is an amalgamation of strong femininity and powerful clean lines in terms of silhouttes,texturing and embroidery,which makes a woman empowered and effortlessly elegant.

 

Neha Dhupia walked the ramp for Sashi Vangapalli labeled Mughdha Art Studio. Neha Dhupia looked dazzling in white Lehanga. Sashi’s Brand belief “We are about you” speaks leads and bounds about her. She believes Mugdha is not about clothes but an effort to help women understand better, to help bring out their true beauty.

 

Designer Rajdeep Ranawat has unleashed fiery corners of the Rann of Kutch to capture the essence of Gujarat's heritage in his Spring-Summer collection titled 'Kaanjari'. Depicting the beauty of the culture, the embroideries and techniques with the use of unusual hues, the women of Kutch forms an avid inspiration for the global nomad.Using sustainable organic fabrics with motifs derived from the theme, further entwined with illustrations and artworks of cactus and foliage from the region, Swarovski elements add to the required contemporary richness it thirsts for.

 

Babul Supriyo Union minister & BJP MP from West Bengal's Asansol walked the ramp for designer Agni Mitra Paul. She showcased two collection at the grand finale i.e. Ikat and Madhubani in a very wearable and comfort wear line and bright colors.
