Pop Singer Sagarika Deb to receive International Women Achiver Awards
Delhi based Pop Singer Sagarika Deb is to receive International Women Achiver Awards. The young singer from India will be honored with "International Women Achievers Awards" from Canada under "IWAA Role Model" Category next year in March 2015 for her contributions to music & through her humanitarian works. Sagarika becomes the first Indian to be honored with the International Award under the "IWAA Role Model" category.
The International Women Achievers Awards (IWAA Awards) from Canada celebrates and honors the accomplishments and contributions of women in world-wide community development. Women who have excelled in different spheres of life. The ceremony underscores the paramount role played by women in society while appreciating their attitudes, initiatives, will-power and perseverance. IWAA Awards are held during the International Women’s month of March.
The purpose of IWAA is to empower young women, so they too can reach their goals. The IWAA brings together women from across the globe and recognizes their accomplishments.
In the year 2015, fourteen such outstanding women from around the world will be felicitated and honored for their contributions in their respective fields to the society.
The award ceremony will take place next year in March 2015 in Toronto, Canada. The 2015 Awards Night is dedicated to the "The Global Fight to End Violence Against Women and Girls".
Sagarika is scheduled to perform her song 'Shine A Light' based on Women Empowerment in the award ceremony. The song 'Shine a Light' (lyrics by Mellina Barnett and music by William Playle) was a response to and was inspired by the brutal gang rape and eventual death of a young student in Delhi in December 2012 and was specially written for singer, Sagarika Deb. The video is for Jyoti/Nirbhaya. The Music video of the song was shot in India in December 2013 by French team of Film Directors Casandra Prerost and Bruno Acard. The Hindi Version of the song entitled 'Navjyoti Ki Oar' was made for 'Navjyoti India Foundation' by Dr.Kiran Bedi.
